Spring in the islands brings every kind of weather known to man,
and all in the course of any given day! Bring a warm coat, and "layering"
is always a good idea. Clear and sunny, with patches of wind and rain
are the rule in spring. Summer features "postcard" weather. Sunny days with
a mild breeze and beautiful blue skies. A pullover sweater for the early
morning or when on the water is a good idea. Otherwise, bring your favorite
tee-shirt and sunscreen! Always remember some warm clothing. The Northwest
can bring cool days no matter what the season. Fall brings the clear, crisp autumn mornings and the famous "gray
days" of the year. Now we are talking coats and sweatshirts as
the official uniform. The rains become a factor. Winter is a time of Nor'easters and rain, puntuated by long periods
of overcast days with moderate temperature. The truest advice is "bring
something from your closet for every kind of weather". The island
skies will probably change fast enough to let you wear all of it at
least once during your visit! An additional happy note: The island is
in the "banana belt" and receives 30% less rainfall than Seattle!
